HOW TO HELP: Zubair Kazmi & Tabish Lotia’s “Adopt A Camp” Initiative

August 26, 2010

My friend and energy activist Zubair Kazmi sent this out on Facebook with the introduction: “”…have started an effort to provide support to all those families that have arrived in Karachi due to the massive floods and aren’t getting any real support. Any help you can provide is great.”

We have come across a fallout shelter in Shanti Nagar, Karachi where the victims have arrived from various regions of the interior of sindh that have been swept away by the floods.

So far the number of the victims are about 600 and growing. The place where they have come and set up is not being run or managed by the government at this moment. These people have nothing. They have made makeshift tents out of pieces of fabric and sheets.

As of Monday the 23/08/10 we have adopted this camp and will try our best with your help to provide for them and get them back on their feet.

Please contact us if you would like to offer any kind of help. Either in the form of supplies or time.

Here is a list of Items that would be of great use:

1) Flour
2) Rice
3) Tea
4) Powdered Milk
5) Daals
6) Sugar
7) Salt
8) Soap for Bathing

Every little bit for these people means more than we can even imagine…

We can do no great things, only small things with great love. ~Mother Teresa

    Thanks Waj

I request, implore and encourage everyone to help as much as possible. One little detail is that I’m just helping out in this effort, Tabish Lotia and his family are the real spearheads behind this effort and are committed to doing as much work as possible in and outside of Karachi as they can. Any help in terms of material, money and manpower is appreciated.
